Herpetology - Captive Breeding

"Odds and ends"

I have a number of other species generally sharing the same enclosures and habitats as the previous groups. A few of these are listed below.

In the "jungle" environments I have Green Iguanas (Iguana iguana) and Blue Spiny Crevice Lizards (Sceloporus cyanogenys serifer). Other indoor vivaria hold Poison Dart Frogs (Dendrobates tinctorius), Leopard Geckos (Eublepharis macularis) and Yellow Throated Plated Lizards (Gerrhosaurus flavigularis).

The Greenhouses also contain Green Toads (Bufo viridis), Starred Agamas (Stellio stellio), Painted Dragons (Stellio stellio brachydactyla), Glass Lizards (Ophisaurus apodus) and various Yellow/Fire-bellied toad species (Bombina spp.). It is interesting to note that the latter exhibit none of the traditional problems of colour loss when kept in these semi-natural conditions.

In the outdoor vivaria a further enclosure with a large pond holds several terrapins - European Pond Tortoise (Emys orbicularis), Stripe-necked Terrapins (Mauremys caspica) and Red-Eared Sliders (Chrysemys scripta elegans). Again these live outdoors all the year round and to date there have been no hibernation losses. Other outdoor species include the Pool Frog (Rana lessonae).
